A little birthday shout out to my favourite four legged friend, Fiver, who is turning 11 years old today! This photo was taken years ago in Halifax N.S where I used to live with Fiver {or Five-Pack as the maintenance used to call him} & his mom Celery. The three of us used to go on the most amazing walks and hikes every day; as Halifax is an incredibly beautiful place. This pic was snapped out on one of our little treks {God, I wish I could find those vintage shades}.
Happy Birthday Five!

Hottest Easter on record? I believe it. The temperatures have been scorching lately... the kind that has you tossing and turning at night and consuming far too many dip cones. We've been trying to take advantage of the abnormally hot weather by hitting the local markets {and fish & chip stands} and taking some seaside strolls. As nice as a strong dose of sunshine can be, I'm almost praying it cools down a bit so that I can back to getting all our spring stock in the shop. As it stands, it's so hot and muggy inside that I'm forced to sit on the beach while eating copious amounts of popsicles and staring at the sea {Woes me!}. How was your Easter Weekend?

Last night kicked off what's bound to be a regular routine for us over the next month... jumping on our bikes {me in 6 inch platforms ha!} and riding to one of Brighton's many live venues to catch a band. We're thrilled to be covering what's fast becoming a leading festival for new music, The Great Escape. We're simply lucky it's happening in our own backyard... and seeing how we first met at a music festival {Sasquatch} years ago, we're going to be back in our element. Of course I'm thrilled to seeing all the Canadian acts {Handsome Furs, Woodhands , PS I Love You, Braids}, but mostly we're looking forward to discovering some new favourites. Last night we caught Metronomy {also playing Great Escape}. The packed house and number of people yelling 'my friend used to live across the road from you' had local band written all over it. Although some members have moved on from Brighton, they made sure to let us know which songs {most of them} were inspired by this place. Over the next few weeks as we figure out our festival itinerary {and of course what I'm going to wear} we'll be sharing what acts we've got on repeat at the old Cocoon!

What more can we really say other than Ta-daaaa! Our little break from the blogging world was really a chance for us to team up with the extremely talented and sweet Previously-Owned in re-creating a blog that really looked and felt like us! This girl has a serious eye for design and we love her new life motto 'Do what you love'. She's been a true inspiration for us. {Fi, thank you so much}
It's really prefect timing to be starting something fresh. The weather has been amazing here in Brighton and we've got a lovely collection of spring vintage making its way into the shop, a calendar full of shows and festivals, including The Great Escape Festival, and a number of dear friends visiting! I've been busy sewing and reworking some vintage pieces, including the dress I'm rocking in this shot... Let's just say, it used to be a size 14 and looked like something out of Nora Batty's wardrobe.
Ah, so nice to be back.
