Seaside

Our sunny days have been aplenty, which means only one thing... picnics on the beach! The Brit and I tend to take our picnicking very seriously {we even have an official vintage wicker picnic basket}, so we were more than delighted to break out the prosciutto and rice cakes for our first outing of the year. I guess you can tell from the crumbs all over my face our little outdoor feast was a hit. I'm also grinning because we've got some really exciting changes coming to the blog... So stay tuned my darlings!

You can never hold back spring

 Here we have it, first official day of spring {Happy Persian New Year!} and we've been having incredible sun-filled weather. This weekend was no exception, the Brit and I were in London for a friend's birthday, so we did what most Londoners do on a gorgeous day, cruise the canals, sip on hot chocolate and partake in ridiculous photo shoots with public art! Actually the canals of Little Venice are a bit of a hidden gem, full of house boats and full-time canal-dwellers. They're the perfect place for a quiet stroll before braving the madness that is Oxford Circus on a sunny day. I somehow convinced the Brit to check out Selfridges new 'shoe galleries' with me {he did pretty well for the first hour and then disappeared to go nap by the Laboutins!} Hope this gorgeous weather sticks around because I have a new spring to my step.... could be all the stunning shoes I've added to my birthday wish-list.

{Happy Spring}

Hercules & Love Affair

Phew, that was a substantial break from our little blog, sometimes the creativity simply isn't there when you need it {or you keep forgetting to take your camera with you every time you go out}. Although, from reading around it seems I may not be the only one feeling a bit in a blogging slump... perfectly understandable, the world is going through a tough time. It's perfectly natural to not feel 'up' and creative when you know so many people are suffering. Safe to say, I've been glued to the tweets and stories coming out of Japan {sigh}. Although a much needed break from the news and a night out with our fave NYC disco queens Hercules & Love Affair  did manage to me some good. I think we were all giving everything we've got, knowing all to well.... All we have is now.

Hope you're weekend was just right!

Bits & Bobs

I knew it was going to be a good weekend the second the Brit called me up on Friday afternoon and asked me if I wanted to go thrifting!!! Invitations to go second hand shopping from the BF can be somewhat of a rare occurrence, so I hopped to it. Don't get me wrong, the Brit is the perfect rummaging partner and in fact his impeccable taste and knack for finding little vintage gems are traits that make my little heart pitter patter for the guy {trust me a guy who can thrift is a keeper}... but even he has limited patience for my obsession with visiting every single charity shop in the neighborhood and examining every item... I'm starting to realize why. You see my darling Brit seems to have an inner radar. He walks into a shop and can right away zone in on the good stuff.... like the this lovely vintage letter holder, old playing cards and little antique leather-bound journal he found in a local Oxfam for in less than five minutes {It works perfectly in our kitchen as a chalk holder for our blackboard wall and keeper of business cards and recipes}. I on the other hand, seem to flitter around, all excited, jumping from one rack to the next... although once in a while I find my own little treasure, like my new Russian nesting doll toothpick holder. What can I say, those who thrift together stay together.

Catwalk Love

As promised a few catwalk snaps from my gig last week covering London Fashion Weekend. To me this event is the most refreshing part of London Fashion Week because it actually features the looks from Spring / Summer 2011 as opposed to Autumn / Winter 2011 {the focus of the shows throughout the main week}.... in other words 'Looks to get excited about now, because you're going to be actually wearing them in no time'! I was lucky enough to interview the stylist behind this catwalk, Miss Molly, who briefed me on the shows two themes as a preview of Spring fashion; a lace, ladylike Black Swan tribute and Colour Blocking, which essentially means boldly throwing together bright electric colours with a little florescent tranny heel for good luck! When it comes to makeup the guest of honor is the bright red / orange matte lip a la Robert Palmer girls. Throw in two of the UK's hottest designers Bora Aksu {try saying that five times} and Mark Fast and by golly, I have a newfound excitement for hooching it up this spring....

...In other news, I found the loveliest 70s chocolate brown knit cardi from my local charity shop and am feeling particularly excited about this week's delivery of local organic produce from Barscombe Nurseries. {Don't worry I haven't forgotten my roots}

Happy Weekend Lovelies!!
